THE NOODLES THAT WE EAT - group show - Christopher Crescent@HD:Projects - NYC

through May 15th 2013

Samuel Fouracre, Rochelle Goldberg, Behrang Karimi & Lia Lowenthal

THE NOODLES THAT WE EAT touches on sustenance, trust and ambitions (realised and
failed). In essays on art production, Martin Kippenburger discusses ideas for the creation and understanding of art, and that a far wider range of factors feed into the mix; flippant decisions made on the spot, the struggle to realise thought-out plans, reactions of the audience, discussions and social circles, even the need for nutrition in the form of comfort food. Each artist in the show flags up ideas on what gives them (and their portrayed characters) subsistence and dependence upon which they can play out their artistic moves.

“[T]he potential for painting will emerge in the conjunctive deconstruction of the three instances that modernist painting has dissociated (the imaginary, the real, and the symbolic).“

Thilo Heinzmann - New Paintings - Guido W. Baudach - Berlin

through June 1st 2013
When you look at the art of Thilo Heinzmann, you see first the assertive presence of materials-as-media – in this case, variously, pigment, broken sections of Styropor, unctuous and glossy nail polish – which address the tactile sense as much as the visual sense.
